April 26, 1839

Although Lilburn W. Boggs’ extermination order was issued on October 27, 1838, five apostles — accompanied by many others — risked great danger to return to the Far West temple site just after midnight on April 26th, 1839 in fulfillment of prophecy. Aware of the Lord’s commandment, enemies of the Church were determined to make sure that this meeting at Far West would never take place.  A large stone was rolled on the southeast cornerstone as recommencement of work on the foundation, and the apostles left to prepare for their overseas missions. See D&C 118:4-5
