“Through the Atonement of Christ, All Mankind May Be Saved”
Articles of Faith 1:3
3 We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
Elder Dale G. Renlund said:
“Without the blessings that come from Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, we can never do enough or be enough by ourselves. The good news, though, is that because of and through Jesus Christ we can become enough [see Alma 41:8; Moroni 10:32–33]. All people will be saved from physical death by the grace of God, through the death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ [see 1 Corinthians 15:22; Alma 11:42–45]. And if we turn our hearts to God, salvation from spiritual death is available to all ‘through the Atonement of [Jesus] Christ . . . by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel’ [Articles of Faith 1:3]. We can be redeemed from sin to stand clean and pure before God. As Micah explained, ‘[God] hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?’ [Micah 6:8; see similar admonitions in Alma 41:14; Doctrine and Covenants 11:12; Articles of Faith 1:13].”
