Daily “Come, Follow Me” Scripture and Quote – Church History, Lesson 36, Day 6

By sharing our testimonies and the light of the restored gospel, we can, like a spiritual lighthouse, have a rescuing influence on those who are lost in darkness and help guide them to spiritual safety.

Doctrine and Covenants 123:12

12 For there are many yet on the earth among all sects, parties, and denominations, who are blinded by the subtle craftiness of men, whereby they lie in wait to deceive, and who are only kept from the truth because they know not where to find it . . .

President M. Russell Ballard wrote:

“We live in a world where many are lost because they do not have a spiritual anchor of any kind to hold them secure when buffeted by the worldly waves and wind. The Prophet Joseph Smith taught that ‘there are many yet on the earth among all sects, parties, and denominations, who are blinded by the subtle craftiness of men, whereby they lie in wait to deceive, and who are only kept from the truth because they know not where to find it’ (D&C 123:12).

“Those of our Father’s children who know that through Joseph Smith the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored are most blessed. With this precious knowledge comes a duty to prepare ourselves spiritually to serve God and our fellowmen. We can be the antidote to much of the moral decline in America and the world! We who have testimonies of the restored gospel, we who know the true nature of God, we who have the light of the Holy Ghost within us can be a spiritual lighthouse to the people of the world.”

(When Thou Art Converted [2002], chapter 2, paragraphs 1–2.)
