“This Is a Day of Warning, and Not a Day of Many Words”
Doctrine and Covenants 63:58
58 For this is a day of warning, and not a day of many words. For I, the Lord, am not to be mocked in the last days.
Elder Hyrum M. Smith and Janne M. Sjödahl wrote:
“To speak in the name of the Lord without authorization is to ‘mock’ Him. That word denotes not merely an attempt to deceive, but deception accompanied by a gesture of contempt. Those guilty of that terrible sin will be overtaken by disaster, as surely as reaping follows sowing. ‘Be not deceived; God is not mocked; for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap’ (Gal. 6:7).”
