“You Shall Have Power to Declare My Word in the Demonstration of My Holy Spirit”
Doctrine and Covenants 99:2
2 And who receiveth you receiveth me; and you shall have power to declare my word in the demonstration of my Holy Spirit.
President Brigham Young said:
“Anything besides that influence [of the Spirit] will fail to convince any person of the truth of the gospel of salvation. . . .
“. . . When I saw a man without eloquence, or talents for public speaking, who could only just say, ‘I know, by the power of the Holy Ghost, that the Book of Mormon is true, that Joseph Smith is a Prophet of the Lord[,’] [t]he Holy Ghost proceeding from that individual illuminate[d] my understanding, and light, glory, and immortality [were] before me. I am encircled by it, filled with it, and know for myself that the testimony of the man is true. . . . My own judgment, natural endowments, and education, bowed to this simple, but mighty testimony.”
